Why artists fail: time

Many times, when people cannot follow up on their interests may it be connected to something that has nothing to do with talent. Life itself throws unaccounted for obstacles and many of us may attend to the running and administration of our life and the life of our family. Corporate office requires multiple hours, budgeting requires second job or overtime. Someone needs to attend to housework and drive the kids to activities. I still remember falling asleep at the afterschool music class or science class my kids were attending. I really hope I was not drooling … that’s how tired I was and mind you neither of the kids are musicians or scientists.
To keep up with my interests I used to “steal time”. That meant I did not follow up un some minor responsibility, … dishes not washed: too bad, floor not swept: don’t look, dinner not made: it’s a sandwich night.
Life is not always your friend. Most of the time one must rip out pieces and chunks for oneself. We may debate if it that is healthy, and I am trying to calm down and flow. However, in the past, and even now that is how I find time for art and other interests. I must minimize other obligations, cut the guilt, and live. Happy painting. Good life.
